A Feast For The Eyes Planned For Box Hill

Marvellous Mole ValleyRemember those stunning scenes of the cyclists in the Surrey Hills during the Olympics?

Now luckily locals and foodies alike wanting a side order of scenery with their foodie fixes, can tuck into a festival of good food and good views at Box Hill this April at a delicious and unique event.

The ‘Marvellous Mole Valley Food with a View’ market on April 13, at the National Trust’s Donkey Green, promises a feast of local Surrey food and drink in a stunning setting. Highlights include cheese making, confectionery, tastings and cookery demonstrations.

This event is an opportunity for Surrey food and drink providers to showcase their products.

From 10am until 4pm, food fans can taste, try and buy Surrey produce in the marquees, learn about local specialities, watch live music and dancing courtesy of the Box Hill Bedlam Morris Dancers, walk in the woods, or linger over lunch on the hillside while taking in one of county’s finest views.

“It will be much more than just a market,” says Caroline Salmon, Chairman of Mole Valley District Council and organiser of the event. “It will be a real sensory experience for the whole family with foodie talks, tastings and talent – as well, of course, those beautiful vistas.”

The event, which is being supported by Surrey’s food networking organisation LocalFoodSurrey.com, will also include a raffle of local produce donated by stallholders, with profits going to the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

“It’s really important that events like these fly the flag for local producers and businesses and we are very happy to be involved,” says LocalFoodSurrey. “We’re asking the community to get vocal for local and support their neighbourhood food providers and artisan producers by grabbing their picnic rugs for a lovely day out in the Surrey countryside.”

Follow the event on Twitter MarvellousMoleValley or log on to www.LocalFoodSurrey.com for latest details.
