A Week in #Bosnia | Day Three – MEAT dinner @ExcitingBosnia

A Week in #Bosnia | Day Three – MEAT dinner @ExcitingBosnia

After a very hectic day the day before we deserved a lie in and day three turned into a very chilled out day.

Awaking we thought that Autumn had arrived a week to early as the heavens had opened. So we spent most of the day relaxing in and out of our apartment drinking the rakija that is left for us to enjoy as and when we want.

There is something rather calming about sitting reading with the sound of the rain tip-tapping on the roof of the patio area watching the rain droplets falling of the leaves of the chili plants in their pots that edge the patio.

So this is a short post for day three, but we did manage to venture out.

In the evening our hosts too us to Restaurant Victoria located at Hotel Vila Viktorija located in Trn between Banja Luka and Laktasi.

The restaurant is very inviting and has a warm cosy interior. As we hadn’t been too piggy this day…we ordered MEAT. This is a standard dish in Bosnia. A platter of various meat served with lepinja, a Bosnian bread, a triple raised, soft baked flat bread. This is the bread that is also served with the Balkan cevapi.

Always served with meat platters and cevapi is kaymak, a cream cheese with a consistency of clotted cream. It is rich, tasty and a delicious accompaniment. A salad of tomatoes and onion is also served with the meat.

Not thinking we could squeeze anything else in pancakes were ordered…naughty but nice.

So a meat fix was had, a few beers and rakija and then back to Cardacani for bed as it’s an early start the next morning for our journey south to Mostar.

Laku noc.
