Arriba, Arriba! Mexicode Opens

After a bit of a slow and bumpy start the new burrito bar Mexicode is opening this week with a soft opening on Tuesday 1st July and fully open on Wednesday 2nd July.

Very pleasing on the eye aesthetically, both externally and internally, Mexicode is a much welcomed change to current food offerings in Reigate.

Inside the new ‘Fresh Mexican Kitchen’, the bright & bubbly staff are eager to serve and deftly put your burrito order together. Whether you choose the beef, pork or chicken (or you can have a vegetarian option) they are all delicious. The rice was perfectly cooked nice and loose, not cloying or claggy which made the burrito surprisingly light.

The guacamole is especially good, very fresh with nice lumps of avocado, not like a pureed baby food that you can find elsewhere. There is a choice of hot or mild sauce plus sour cream. You can always add more heat should you like your Mexican HOT with the hot sauce on the tables.

Set up as burrito bar/cantina there are no bookings taken and they operate as a walk in counter order, though there are plenty of seats inside, which is very bright & welcoming with very comfortable chairs, exposed brickwork and a pretty cool window bar with seating.

Currently there is no alcohol licence but it is something that they are looking at introducing to provide a refreshing Sol with your tacos & nachos. Also, to be added is the provision of wifi. There are sweet treats too such as ice cream and churros with chocolate fudge sauce.

So if you have a craving pulled marinated meats, fresh guacamole, crisp tacos, pico de gallo salsa or churros, then head on in to Reigate’s new independent on the block.

I have a feeling that it will be very well received and that there also maybe a few expanding waistlines!
