What’s It All About? I Asked Alfie and other traders of @BoroughMarket

What’s It All About, I Asked Alfie and other traders of Borough Market?

Borough Market in Southwark is world famous. A few minutes from London Bridge Station and tube is easily accesible and a must for any foodie.

The market has a wonderful vibe about it. Selling all the fresh produce you can think of as well as hot dishes from all around the world plus the best of  British fayre to eat on the hoof. All this whilst you wander around marvelling at the stunning displays, taking in all the sights and salivating at the smells wafting though the air.

I popped down to the market to chat to some of the traders there and to get a feel for what makes the market tick.

I spoke to Nicola Swift, the Creative Food Director from Ginger Pig about the history of the company, it’s relationship with Borough Market and where the name derived from. Graham Fletcher, butcher of Rhug Estates gives an insight in customers offal preferences, whilst Max from Mons Cheesemongers fills me in what is ripe and ready eat at the moment.

Paul from Sussex Fish explains about the scallop seasons and Alfie gives me a nibble on Cannon and Cannon‘s beer sticks!

If that’s not enough Hayleigh Bazelya from So Chocolicious indulges me with rich and exuberant truffles from her stall.

Finally I have a rendevouz with Borough Market’s resident chef Hayley Edwards, who is there every Thursday demonstrating delicious recipes made from products bought from the market on a weekly budget. You don’t have to be the Duke of Westminster to shop there you know!
