Pret Charity Run | @z1radio Finds Out What Happens to Pret A Manger’s Leftover Sandwiches? @Pret

We all drop into a shop at lunchtime to grab a sandwich and a drink and probably don’t think anymore of it.

Many food retailers throw away their waste food at the end of the working day or when they have reached their expiry date and some are even known to spoil the products to stop people taking them out of bins at the back of the stores.

Not Pret a Manger, for 27 years they have been delivering their sandwiches to the homeless and other organisations and hand out an incredible 2.4 million items a year.

Matthew Layton presents #CommunityProfile the weekly conversation with people who make a difference in the London community – on ZoneOneRadio – the community radio station for Central London.

Last Thursday, Matthew followed Giovanna from Pret, Jay who manages the Pret Charity Run, the volunteers from the Simon Community  and the journey of leftover Pret sandwiches from store to consumer.

There really are many people and organisations in London who truly make a difference.
